Interior Design Software – How to get started

Interior design software is a great tool for any interior designer. It allows designers to create beautiful and functional spaces without the hassle of traditional design methods. With the right software, any designer can create a stunning interior design that meets their client’s needs. In this blog post, we’ll look at the different types of interior design software available, the benefits of using it, and how to choose the right one for your needs. We’ll also discuss some of the best software on the market. Finally, we’ll provide some tips on how to get the most out of your software.

Created with Sketch Up and photoshop

Interior design software can be divided into two main categories: 2D and 3D. 2D software allows designers to create a basic floor plan with walls, doors, and windows. It also allows designers to add furniture, fixtures, and accessories to the plan. 3D software, on the other hand, allows designers to create a more detailed and accurate representation of the space. This type of software also allows designers to visualize the space in three dimensions, which can be very helpful when designing a space. See images for CGI renders created with Sketchup for some of our clients.

One of the main benefits of using interior design software is that it can save time. Traditional design methods can be very time-consuming, but with the right software, designers can create a design in a fraction of the time.

When choosing software, it’s important to consider your needs. Different software programs offer different features, so it’s important to choose one that meets your specific needs. It’s also important to consider the cost of the software. Some software programs are free, while others may require a subscription fee.

Some of the best software on the market include Vectorworks and SketchUp. Vectorworks is a professional-grade program that offers a wide range of features. SketchUp is a 3D program which is free and a great way to start for beginners.

To get the most out of your design software, it’s important to take advantage of all the features it offers. Additionally, it’s important to practice using the software to become familiar with its tools and features. There are some great tutorials online and YouTube has lots of videos for both beginners in Vectorworks and Sketch Up.

Interior design software can be a great tool for any interior designer. It can save time and money and provide a more accurate representation of a space. When choosing the right software for your needs, it’s important to consider the features offered, the cost of the software, and how to get the most out of it. With the right software, any designer can create a stunning interior design that meets their client’s needs.

Our top two picks for Interior Design software here at our Interior Design Studio in Cornwall is Vectorworks and SketchUp.

Studio Far West have been involved with the renova Studio Far West have been involved with the renovation of the Hotel rooms, suites and cottages at The Headland Hotel. With a background in luxury 5* Hotel and Spa design in the UK and Internationally, we have loved working with the Armstrong family on such an Iconic project in our home county, Cornwall. The first set of rooms completed in Winter 2021 were The Ocean View Suites featuring a bold mix of colour, pattern and texture. The backdrop of the bedroom scheme is Brunschwig & Fils Nizam print wallpaper and coral accents can be found in the upholstery fabrics, lampshades and bespoke cushions. We mixed antique furniture finds with new bright and contrasting fabrics. This is an approach we often take, creating a dynamic design that also offers a sense of familiarity and comfort.
